Academic Program
“Shoulder and Elbow Trauma”
This year’s gathering will feature a unique format for an orthopedic CME meeting. It will be composed entirely of case-based symposia with an emphasis on audience participation and discussion.

We want this meeting to be dynamic and didactic, but not dogmatic and drudgerous. As such, we have grouped the meeting’s thematic case-based sessions generally by anatomic area, starting with the AC Joint on Friday and moving down to the Forearm by Saturday. Each session will involve case presentations from a panel of Faculty, followed by ample time for Q&A/Discussion led by the panel but open to the entire group. We expect it to be equal parts lively, educational, contentious, and friendly, summing up to one result – unforgettable.

*Two sessions in particular will be featured, one for each day. Each session will involve an award for the winning Faculty Member.

On Friday, we will have a “Battle Royale” session about the shoulder’s most controversial topic – Proximal Humerus Fractures. The battle will pit non-op versus fix versus replace, with the audience voting on the faculty member who makes the most convincing argument for their choice of management. The faculty will be given the opportunity to present their case, then they must defend it while simultaneously cross-examining their fellow panel members.

On Saturday, we will have a “Craziest Case” session involving presentations of cases with complications. The audience will vote on who has the “Craziest Case” – with consideration given both to the complexity of the case as well as the creativity of management.
